solving addition and subtraction equations as fractions is my worst problem. Can some one assist me understand it? I am a beginner at it. What book or other resource do you suggest for starting this subject?

You seem to be facing a similar problem that I had last month. I too thought of getting a paid tutor to work it out for me. But they are so pricy that I just could not afford one. So I turned to the internet and found so many programs that can help with algebra assignments on graphing equations, algebra formulas and converting decimals. After some research I found that Algebrator is the best of the lot. I haven’t found a math assignment that I can’t get done through Algebrator. It is absolutely unbelievable. Best part is, the software gives you a step-by-step break-up on how to do it yourself. So you actually learn how to solve it yourself. Isn’t it cool?

My parents could not afford my college expenses , so I had to work in the evening, after my classes. Solving equations at the end of the day seemed to be impossible for me at those times. A friend introduced Algebrator to me and since then I never had trouble solving my questions .
